How can physiotherapy help me?
We don’t just treat pain—we find the root cause and fix it. Our approach combines hands-on treatment, strength work, and real education to get you moving better, faster. You’ll get a personalised plan, plus the tools to stay pain-free and avoid future injuries.
What conditions do you treat?
At Function First, we treat a wide range of joint issues, including neck, back, shoulder, hip, knee, elbow, wrist, and ankle pain. We also specialise in post-surgery rehabilitation and sports injuries. Whether you’re an athlete or just looking to stay active, we believe in preventative care to keep you moving and injury-free.
What should I expect from therapy sessions?
Your first session is up to an hour for your initial assessment and treatment. Dress in comfortable, sporty clothes (shorts and a vest top are ideal). Follow-up sessions usually last between 30 to 60 minutes, depending on your needs and treatment plan.
Do I need a GP referral for treatment?
No referral is needed to receive treatment at Function First. However, if you’re claiming through medical insurance, some plans may require one. We always recommend consulting your GP for any ongoing conditions when necessary.
How much do physiotherapy sessions cost?
The cost of your initial assessment and follow-up treatments depends on the type and length of therapy required. For full pricing details, check out the ‘Services’ section under the navigation tab on our website.
Am I covered for treatment by my health insurer?
As HCPC registered therapists, we accept referrals from a variety of private health insurers. Contact your provider for guidance on referral requirements. We also provide invoicing for those claiming through PAYG insurance schemes, such as Westfield Health.

How do I make an appointment?
You can easily book an appointment through any of the links to our online booking system on our website. Alternatively, give us a call at 01226 663266 or email thomas@functionfirstphysio.co.uk.
What if I need to cancel my appointment?
We require 24 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule an appointment. Cancellations with less than 24 hours’ notice won’t be refunded but can be rescheduled. For full details, refer to our cancellation policy in the ‘Terms & Conditions’ section of our website.
How do I stay on track with my rehab?
Your rehab plan is delivered through our app, with clear exercises, videos, and progress tracking. You can log sessions, track pain, and get reminders to keep you consistent. If you have questions or need support, you can message us directly through the app at any time. Simple, structured, and fully supported.
